About Sūt
Sūt is a fine textile house, in commission only. Every garment is made to your exact measurements — nothing is held in stock, nothing is mass-produced.
We were founded in Melbourne in 2026, out of a quiet refusal of fast fashion. We believe clothing should be made slowly and deliberately, from natural fibres and natural dyes, and worn for years rather than seasons. Each piece is cut and woven by hand by partner artisans in India, and made only once it has been asked for — so that nothing is wasted, and every garment has a person waiting for it.
Why Sūt Exists
Sūt began with a single conviction: that some of the finest cloth in the world — handwoven across generations by master artisans in India — almost never reaches the people who would treasure it most. It disappears into anonymous supply chains, its makers unnamed, its quality flattened into the single word fabric.
Our founder spent years moving between two worlds — a country with exacting taste and the means to indulge it, and the looms of Bengal where that taste could be answered thread by thread. The distance between the two seemed both absurd and worth closing. Sūt is the attempt to close it: to bring the world's finest natural cloth, and the world-class artisans who weave it, directly to the people of Australia — and to cut every piece to the body of the person who asked for it.
Nothing here is mass-made. Everything is made for someone. That is the whole idea, and it has not changed since the first commission.
Ten Cloths, Chosen for Hand and Longevity
We work with ten natural cloths: Handspun Khadi, Organic Khadi, Matka Peace Silk, Mulberry Silk, Linen, Merino Wool, Tussar Silk, Ketia Peace Silk, a Tussar-Muga Silk Blend, and Eri Silk. Each is woven by hand by our partner artisans in India, in natural fibres only — no synthetics, no shortcuts. Every colour comes from natural dye, drawn from roots, leaves, minerals and fruit.
How a Commission Works
You begin by choosing a garment and the cloth it should be made in. We guide you through fabric and dye selection, receive your measurements, and confirm the commission in writing. Production takes around six weeks from the day your measurements are received, with complimentary shipping within Australia. Every garment carries our fit guarantee — if the fault is ours, we put it right.
