The Materials

We work with ten natural cloths. Each was chosen for its hand — the way it feels against skin, the way it ages, the integrity of its making. Every one is woven by hand by our partner artisans in India, in natural fibres only, and coloured with natural dye. Nothing synthetic, nothing unnecessary.

Handspun Khadi

Cotton · hand-spun, handwoven · cold hand-wash

Cotton hand-spun on a charkha and handwoven in India. Soft, breathable, and alive with the gentle slubs of human-spun yarn.

Organic Khadi

Organic cotton · hand-spun, handwoven · cold hand-wash

The same hand-spun, handwoven cloth, made with organic cotton grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.

Matka Peace Silk

Ahimsa mulberry silk · hand-spun, Bengal · dry-clean or cool wash

An ahimsa silk from West Bengal, hand-spun from broken mulberry fibres with the sericin gum left intact — closer to a fine linen than to satin.

Mulberry Silk

Cultivated silk · reeled and woven · dry-clean

The benchmark silk, reeled from Bombyx mori cocoons fed only on mulberry leaves. Deep lustre, fluid drape, quiet strength.

Linen

Flax · woven · cool wash, line-dry

Woven from the flax plant — one of the oldest cloths humans have made. Cool, crisp and breathable; it wrinkles with intention.

Merino Wool

Wool · woven · cold hand-wash or dry-clean

Wool fine enough to wear next to the skin. Temperature-regulating, odour-resistant and slow to wrinkle — among the most useful natural fibres ever bred.

Tussar Silk

Wild silk · handwoven · dry-clean

A wild silk from forest silkworms in Eastern India. Honey-gold in colour, textured, with an uneven living sheen.

Ketia Peace Silk

Ahimsa tussar silk · hand-spun, Bengal · dry-clean

A rare Bengal cloth woven from the broken fibres of hatched tussar cocoons. Zero-waste by design — substantial, textured, and hard to find.

Tussar-Muga Silk Blend

Wild silk blend · handwoven · dry-clean

A handwoven blend of tussar and muga silks. The wild golden lustre of muga over the substantial, textured hand of tussar — two rare silks in a single cloth.

Eri Silk

Ahimsa silk · hand-spun, handwoven · cool hand-wash

Peace silk from the Samia ricini moth of Northeast India. Warm like wool, breathable like cotton, with a soft matte hand.
